History of the FSS

The Florida Speleological Society (FSS) was started in 1956. It has been active since the beginning. The FSS was a functioning grotto prior to 1956 but received its National Speleological Society (NSS) affiliation that year. The FSS was the first NSS sponsored grotto in Florida and was the 68th Grotto created.
